DAILY POST 04/12/08
Before i tell you about the things that i have done today, i'm going to tell you a story that hopefully would evoke feelings in you as much as it did in me.
There was a girl named Sedania who once had a beautifull life, a life that everyone wanted. She had a beautiful loving family, great friends and an incredible boyfriend which she loved very much, she had everything that she could ever ask for, until a terrible tragedy stiked her life and destroyed for ever. Sedania and her family were on a trip to visit the rest of the family for christmas, her boyfriend had come with them because christmas was very important to Sedania. On the way to her aunt's house they had a terribly accident caused by a drunk driver, the car in which Sedania, her boyfriend and family were traveling was hit by a big truck (the driver of the truck was drunk and was driving asleep). Her car was badly hit, her parents even though they were wearing a seat belt fled out of the car and died instantly, what was left of the car fell into a lake and her boyfriend died triying to get her out of the car. Miraculously Sedania survived the accident, but she had lost everything that she had ever loved. She spent over a year in a coma and when she finally had awaken she realized that she was left alone in the world that everything that she had ever loved was gone, she was devastated. Her aunt who cared about her very much decided to bring her to the United States to help her recover and move on with her life. When Sedania arrived to the U.S she did not wanted to live, why should she, she had lost everything that she loved, she did not had anything left, but she decided that if was the only one that had survived that horrible accident was because God wanted her to something good with her life besides she remembered that Leo gave his life to save hers, so she could not give up now, she had to live for him.
She decide that no matter how much it hurt her that her family was gone she had to move on with her life. She started college and she made a lot of friend and as time went on she realized that she was feeling a lot better, that her life did not hurt as much. She met a guy named Alan who like her had a very traumatic life, they became very close friends so close that they shared everything with each other. He had told her about his horrible girlfriend, how much he loved her no matter how bad she was to him. Sedania could feel his pain because even though she did not wanted to she was falling in love with him. She tried so hard to help him realize that that girl was not good for him, that he deserved someone better that. Until one day he found out that she was cheating on him and they broke up. Sedania was so loving to him, she wanted to help him forget about her, she wanted her to see how much she loved him, but he just never did. Short after she had found out that the Devil as she called her was pregnant and that Alan had decided to take her back; when she lokked at him she could see how happy he was because of that..... Sedanai felt so depressed and became so angry at him for taking her back, for not trusting her, for not telling her that he had impregnated her. She was so angry that she never spoke to him again, she felt so much rage inside her that she did not wanted to see him ever again. She knew that he was not worth it because he was not smart enough to see that she had feelings for him, that she actually cared about him, she cared about him so much, but still she could not get him out of her head, she loved him too much to do so. She hated the Evil for carrying his baby inside of her and for having him, for having something that she knew would never have. Today she still feels the same way about him, and she wants him out of her system so bad, but she just can't get him out, no matter what she does... she can't.
Today I had to finish evaluating the books that karen gave me to read. After that she gave me more stuff to read, so i have spent the whole afternoon reading. great, right??

MIDPOINT REFLECTION QUESTIONS
How has the internship been the same as and/or different than your expectations?
My internship has not been anything at all that i expected. It has been even better, i've learneed so many great skill that i will be able to use for the rest of my life. Skills like reading faster and better, working at a office, working with other people, follow directions from my mentor, and others.
What is similar and different about the culture of the school environment versus the workplace environment? What new skills have you learned that apply to the workplace?
There is nothing of IHS culture up in here, everything is just too different... People are not very socializing with one another, and everything that you see there is a little too American.
What kind of relationship do you have with your mentor and co-workers? How have you grown as a result of interacting with professional adults?
I think that i have a very professional relationship with my mentor and some of my co-workers, except of the guys that work in the mailing department with them i have a more non-professioinal relatioship, they are very nice people. I think that i have learned to interact with older people without feeling weird, like a kid, i think that i have become more mature, i have grown more as a person.
What challenges at the internship have you faced that you have overcome and how did you overcome them?
Challenges that i have faced at my internship would be trying to meet the deadline and do quality work at the same time. I have overcome this situation by focusing completely, whenever i have a big important assignment i start right away, take it home, do it in the subway and at my other job.
What challenges have you faced in school as a result of the altered schedule and how are you handling them?
Since my internship started i have had a very hard time completting....
What goals are you working to accomplish during the remainder of the internship?
The only goal that i have for that internship is to leave a good impresion on my mentors and in the rest of the people that i have worked with.
What new things have you learned about New York City?
I have learned that it has great places to eat, that it is a beautiful place but it also has ugly places.

NEW PALTZ
The trip to New Paltz for me was really really good, i learned a lot of things not only about New Paltz but also about all the colleges. I learned how and based on what they pick their students, the kind of programs that are available which unfortunately do not include Chemical or Nuclear Engineering. I also learned that a student can have a job at the campus as a tutor or as a turist guide and you know what the best part is: THEY DON'T HAVE TO PAY TAXES. The campus was just beautiful, it had lakes that during winter they froze so you can skate on them and during the summer you can swim in there. They also have a whole lot of building and classrooms that are huge and all of the facilities that they have like the GYM and the SWIMING POOL, I find it fascinatd to be taking classes in a place like that.
I thought that I will like living in college specially if the dorms are like the ones in New Paltz, the dorms there are like a small house, it has 3 bedrooms 1 per pair, a small living room, a big bathroom and a small kitchen. I think that the dorms are best part, they are not that big neither that small, you don't have to live alone and you all of the privacy you need.I also liked the campus a lot because there a lot of activities and things that you can do so you won't be bored and the best part was that you can study abroad for the same price that if you were studying in the country.
I really enjoyed that trip and I'm also very thankfull to Mr. Sean for letting me have such a great experience. It really change my opinion about SUNY.

Third Week Assignment
Describe one significant activity or project that you have completed or are working on currently.
I had just finished my third week and i'm still working on my second project. For this project i had to pick a country and an form of human rights violations and for these i had to describe the country and describe the type of human rights violations.
The country that i picked was Afghanistan and the issue was Violence Against Women from before the Taliban took control and after the taliban took control of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. I picked this country and the issue because for some very strange reason i have some kind of attachement to Afghanistan and also because i just hate it when men ill treat women without a good cause.
After i'm done with my research i have to put together a project that i will be presenting to a elementary school kids. I'm looking forward to that presentation.
